Grant Report: Workshop: Introduction to R

12-15 May 2025

I participated in the Introduction to R workshop organized by GESIS Training, which provided a comprehensive introduction to the open-source statistical software R and its development environment RStudio. The four-day online course was designed for participants with little or no prior experience in R and focused on developing practical skills for data management, analysis, and visualization.

Throughout the workshop, I learned to use the tidyverse package collection for data wrangling and analysis, as well as ggplot for creating visualizations. I gained experience in importing and transforming data, creating and modifying variables, and conducting basic data modeling and exploratory analyses. The course also introduced key R programming concepts, such as data types, functions, and control structures, as well as additional R packages to enhance functionality.

The workshop combined lectures with practical exercises, allowing me to apply the concepts directly to my own datasets. By the end of the course, I had developed a solid understanding of R fundamentals and acquired the tools and confidence to continue improving my R programming and data analysis skills independently.
