Writing for Publication: Interactive and Self-Paced Training

This new eight-week course offers a flexible mix of weekly Zoom sessions, short video
lessons, and practical writing tasks to help you make real progress on your journal
article. Each week, we’ll focus on a different part of the writing process—from shaping
your story to refining your language and building strong, readable sections.
You’ll also have the option to get written feedback from the trainer on a section of your
draft—whether that’s an abstract, an introduction, or something else you’re working on.
If you’re looking for structured support, clear guidance, and a weekly rhythm to keep you
moving forward, then this course is for you.

Target Audience
PhD students who are planning to write or are currently working on a
research article for publication in English.

Objectives
By the end of this course, you will have a solid understanding of the key
elements of academic writing and will develop a structured approach to drafting,
refining, and preparing your research article for submission. If you're in the early stages
of writing, this course will provide motivation, structure, and support to help you get
started—you may even finish with a first draft of your key sections.

This one-day intensive workshop is designed for those who have already attended the introductory two-day course or who have already published an article. In this advanced session, you’ll engage in hands-on, guided exercises to refine your writing, focusing on structure, clarity, and overall impact.
To maximize the value of this workshop, participants should bring a draft of an abstract or introduction from a research article they wish to develop. Throughout the day, you’ll revise and polish your work in real-time, ensuring clear progress by the end of the session. A unique benefit of this in-person course is the opportunity to connect with peers at a similar writing stage in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can refine your ideas, and build confidence in your writing.

• To deepen understanding of the principles of finding the story in your research
• To improve your ability to write clear, cohesive, and compelling academic texts.
• To provide practical tools and techniques for refining academic texts.
• To facilitate peer learning and feedback.

Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
• Know how to apply tools and techniques to enhance clarity and cohesion in their work.
• Gain practical experience in revising and editing their own writing.
• Develop skills to critically evaluate and improve academic manuscripts.
