DaF German as a Foreign Language courses
The DaF (Department 'German as a Foreign Language') offers German as a Foreign Language Courses for international students, including doctoral candidates. The following formats are available:
A: intensive pre-semester courses typically start approx. 1 month before semester starts (i.e. early March or September). Courses take place Monday to Friday (20 hours per week) during c. 1 month.
B: Summer/winter semester courses typically run throughout the semester (early April/October - mid July/end January; 6 hours per week)
Course participation costs a flat rate of 250 Euro per semester.
In principle, the GSGS will cover the costs for two semesters per person and longer in well-substantiated exceptional cases. However, this is subject to the availability of funds. If you are interested in receiving this support from the GSGS, send an e-mail to email@example.com entitled "Support for GaFL" before registering with DaF. In your email write:
- your name
- the name of your advisor (principal supervisor) and if you have discussed your participation with them
- for which course (presemester / semester) and level (A1, A2, B1, etc.) you have registered.
Register with the DaF here.
In the Remarks and Questions section of the DaF registration form write 'fee will be paid by the GSGS'. Should you receive a bill yourself, contact Karin.
