The annual Goldschmidt Conference is the world’s biggest conference on geochemistry and its related subjects. It is a perfect platform, especially for young geochemists to get to know people working in the same field, to exchange knowledge and to learn about new developments in geochemistry. This year’s conference took place in Boston, USA, from 12th to 17th of August.
Due to funding from the GSGS I got the opportunity to attend this conference and to give my first oral presentation (‘Using triple oxygen isotopes to determine evaporation and recharge at the Salar del Huasco, Chile’). The talk provided an excellent chance to present our results from a case study at the Salar del Huasco that support the applicability of the triple oxygen isotope system for paleo‐humidity reconstruction to a broad audience working in related fields.
Additionally, the broad spectrum of the conference with more than 3000 presentations offered interesting insights in other geochemical themes. It was also a great opportunity to get in touch with other scientists. Very fruitful discussions about new findings led to the development of new ideas and possible future collaborations.
