With the size of the conference in terms of numbers of participants (28000+), the AGU Fall Meeting provides a unique chance to present your work to a wide audience. At the same time, new collaborators as well as established international connections for future projects can be found. The vast number of sessions provide insights into specific fields of research that can also be used to go beyond your own area of expertise.

Within the session “Interactions Between Land Surface, Convective Boundary Layer, Clouds, and Aerosols: Linking Observations with Models” I was presenting a poster with the topic “Long-term characterization of the boundary-layer for studying land-surface atmosphere interactions”. The poster session, but also the associated oral session offered the opportunity to attend talks and posters that are relevant for my research.

In the current final stage of my work the goal of my poster presentation at the AGU Fall Meeting was to give a wrap-up of the achievements during my time as a PhD student and to find researchers that are interested in the outcome of the study. Since not all of the results were published also feedback to the recently ongoing work was helpful. Due to a broad topic that was covered with the poster, also the audience attending the presentation had a diverse research background which was both challenging and interesting. For the time after the PhD defense, new contacts were established for a potential future collaboration.
