Deutsche Mineralogische Gesellschaft (92nd Annual Meeting)

21 - 24 September 2014, Jena, Germany

At this year’s Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Mineralogische Gesellschaft (DMG) in Jena, I gave a talk about my study and my results from “volatile metal stable isotope fractionation during evaporation from silicate melt and condensation onto condensation plates under different atmospheres with analyses of cadmium as a representative element for volatile isotope behavior”.After the talk and also during my whole stay, several short discussions regarding not only details but also fundamental issues concerning my work helped me to view some issues from a new angle.Beside the scientific program, I attended the icebreaker party where we had the opportunity to visit the tower of the Institute of Earth Science. There we had a look at Jena from the bird’s eye view. During the second social event, the conference dinner, awards were presented to junior scientists and further highly respected scientists were honored. At the meeting, it was pointed out more than once that the DMG does not worry about its future thanks to a high number of young participants and student. About 330 participants joined the conference.
