On 6 May, 2021 from 16:30 (CEST) the first GSGS General Assembly under the new statutes took place via Zoom. 64 Members attended.

The General Assembly elected the members of the Steering Commitee by grouping; each group voted unanimously for their representatives and deputies listed below (term of office in brackets).
Current GSGS Steering Committee
- Prof Boris Braun, acting GSGS spokesperson and Advisor representing of the subject Geography, deputy: Prof Tony Reimann (2 years);
- Dr Kerstin Ebell, Academic staff representative, deputy: Dr Steven Binnie (2 years);
- Prof Roel Neggers, Advisor representing the subjects Geophysics and Meteorology, deputy: Prof Joachim Saur (2 years);
- Ms Sarah Rabe, Doctoral candidate representative, deputy: Ms Barbara Blanco (1 year);
- Mr Stephan Schlegel, Doctoral candidate representative, deputy: Ms Sarah Luft (2 years);
- Prof Bernd Wagner, Advisor representing the subjects Geology & Mineralogy, and Crystallography, deputy: Prof Patrick Grunert (2 years).
In the next Steering Committee meeting, the GSGS spokesperson and deputy spokesperson will be elected.
The next General Assembly is planned for May, 2022.
