The symposium I attended was the mid-term symposium of Technical Commission VII “Thematic Processing, Modeling and Analysis of Remotely Sensed Data” of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). I was interested in attending this conference because I am the secretary of working group 5 of the technical commission, of which my thesis adviser is the chair, and because the topics covered in this symposium range across all the research we are doing in Professor Bareth’s working group in the field of remote sensing. I gave an oral presentation of the first research  results for my PhD thesis.

In the accompanying paper  which can be accessed at http://www.int-arch-photogramm-remote-sens-spatial-inf-sci.net/XL-7/43/2014/isprsarchives-XL-7-43-2014.pdf , I described the results of the first field campaign measurements that were taken in 2013. In the presentation, I also gave a first impression of the results I achieved in the field campaign of 2014, where I improved my monitoring system based on the first year’s results. I am currently writing a paper based on these results to be published in 2015. Presenting at this symposium gave me a valuable opportunity to get feedback on the research I have done so far, and also allowed me to network with other colleagues in the field, and gave me the first opportunity to give a scientific talk in English. Apart from that I also had the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Istanbu
