With more than 14.000 participants from over 100 countries the EGU is the largest geoscience event in Europe. Again this year it was a great success with 4,849 oral, 11,312 poster, and 1,238 PICO presentations. With 649 scientific sessions together with side events and short courses an interesting program was offered. Even for my specific topic of energy meteorology a particular session was provided.
During my poster presentation I was able to get in touch with other scientists working in the field of energy meteorology with a focus on solar energies. We discussed the problems for modeling solar energy yields and I learned about different approaches. During this discussions I was encouraged to write a manuscript for the special issue of Energy Procedia from the division Energy, Resources and the Environment (ERE) session, which is a good chance for my to release my first publication. I would like to thank the Graduate School of Geosciences for the financial support to take part in this huge event. Also for the financing of a companion to look for my 4 month old daughter during the conference time, who needed to travel with me to Vienna.
